...a lot has happened around here. We closed on a house back in August. Our closing date was Friday the thirteenth. Thank goodness I'm not superstitious. We moved that weekend and of course had the worse and first rain showers we had had in a long time, but thanks to the help of both of our families we managed to get everything moved by Saturday evening. I am now a Mississippi girl and have enjoyed every bit of being in a city town again. The house is a work in progress. It was pretty much move in ready, but we have over twice the room that we did have so we need a good bit of furniture.
Lilla started school back in September. She is going to ELC at the Methodist church 3 days a week. That also is a work in progress. She cries just about every time I drop her off. Some how she knows where we are going and gives me the silent treatment on the way there. She cries before we even get out of the car some days. The first week, she wouldn't eat, drink, or nap. You can only imagine what a pill she was when she came home in the afternoons. I can only hope this gets easier for her.
On a sadder note, we lost a very important member of our family. Almost a couple of weeks ago, we had to put Mac to sleep. It was a very sad and emotional time around here. Mac had been unable to use the bathroom for several days when Grover took him to the local vet. He was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection and given some antibiotics. The following Thursday Mac had not gotten any better so I took him to Montgomery to see my dad. That next Wednesday my dad called and said that Mac had prostate cancer and that there wasn't anything else we could try to fix him. I dropped Lilla off with her Aunt Gina, picked Grover up in McShan and we drove to Montgomery to get Mac. It was a very tearful drive. Mac looked so much better than he had just less than a week ago. He was so happy to see Grover and even happier when we pulled up in McShan but he still couldn't go to the bathroom and it was only a matter of time before his bladder would fill back up and cause him terrible discomfort. After we all cried and said our goodbyes Grover took him back to the local vet and had him put to sleep. It was such a sad, sad day. We miss him dearly, especially Grover. Mac was his best buddy. There has been such an emptiness at our home, but with each day it gets a little easier.
So that is what has been going on around here. I will be back soon with a Lilla update and pictures from our trip to the pumpkin patch this weekend.
Sweet Mac. Simms still prays for him when she says her prayers just like shes always done! Hope yall are coming this weekend!
